Today I woke up at 6 am and watched the sunrise with a cup of arroz con leche from last night. It was a cold morning and almost felt like any other day but than it dawned on me that 50 other people are unable to wake up and bathe in the suns magnifying warmth because their lives were unjustifiably taken during the shooting that occurred in my hometown last night, this of course is excluding the upwards of 400 people injured during the incident. Las Vegas, a city of excitement and shelter for anyone looking for a new home or new beginning has now experienced and become the setting of the deadliest mass shooting in the United States to date. My heart is with my city and the countless lives effected today, if you are able to donate blood please do so and lend a helping hand to those in need. Let this incident ignite a fire for civil change demanding stronger gun regulations because as long as people are able to readily gain access to such weapons, the reality is that everyone is susceptible to reliving this tragedy. Interrupt this menacing cyclical pattern today and be part of a nation demanding change.
